Larson Attends United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda

Carol Larson returned in July from a trip to Arusha, Tanzania.  While in Arusha, she attended several hearings conducted by the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR).  Larson listened to the direct and cross examination of Col. Theoneste Bagosora, one of the alleged masterminds of the genocide in Rwanda.  (Col. Bagosora was found guilty of the 1994 killings and also responsible for the killing of Prime Minister Agathe Uwillinglyimana and other officials on April 7, 1994.  He was also found guilty in connection with the killing of ten Belgian peacekeepers that were killed by soldiers on April 7th.  Col. Bagasora's conviction is on appeal.)  Col. Bagasora was testifying for the defense in the case of Karemera, et al.  Mrs. Larson's niece, Amanda Grafstrom, is a Legal Officer for the ICTR, working in Arusha.
